Micaela Williams

Intern at the Excellence and Advancement Foundation

Micaela has been working with youth since 2016. After a few years as an elementary and secondary school educator-in-training, Micaela recently pivoted towards opportunities with more direct involvement with youth mental health and the development of positive identity. She has volunteered as a guardian ad litem for youth involved in Texas family court proceedings and currently works as a youth mentor in an Austin elementary school.

Micaela graduated in 2019 from The University of Texas at Austin with two degrees in Psychology and African and African Diaspora Studies and has since returned for a Masters in Social Work. Through her involvement with the Excellence and Advancement Foundation, she has joined a team of equally passionate individuals on several projects towards the empowerment of youth. The Excellence and Advancement Foundation has provided opportunities for Micaela to work with young people and their families in individual, group, and community contexts. The Spark Change Project in particular champions a cause most dear to her heart in supporting outstandingly-capable girls in their navigation of the structural challenges and injustices of society at large. Micaela looks forward to the impact of the Spark Change Project through the critical and collaborative engagement with topics of race, gender, (in)justice, and other social systems!
